Microchipping

Pet ID Tagging

We are pleased that we can now offer our Pet Id Tagging system to you

Did you know, it is a legal obligation to make sure your dog is wearing a collar and Identification tag?

We have made this easier for you, as we can now offer a Pet Tag/Pet collar engraving while you wait, using our electronic systems, we can fill in the details you require, show you how it will look before we print and once confirmed engrave the tag in 1-2 minutes, easy as that.

We would recommend this service greatly and also we would recommend getting your dog microchipped at the same time, for more peace of mind

Micro Chipping

Poochie Parlour are please to say we now offer the Microchipping service, so to explain what microchiping is, a Microchip is a small computer chip, about the size of a grain of rice, which is implanted into the dog between its shoulder blades, with very little to no pain experienced. The chip contains a unique ID numberand once in place and be scanned with a hand held device that vets, animal welfare groups and local authorities will have.

So If your dog was to get lost, and was found by someone they will check to see if the dog has been microchipped, if they scan and it has been microchipped it will display the unique ID number to them, and they can then get the owners contact details through the online database and you can be reunited with your lost pet.

Poochie Parlour recommends that every dog and cat should be microchipped

Clipping/Shaving

Clipping is a process that in which we remove hair by shaving using specialist dog clippers, there are many different styles and blade lengths that can be used for this process depending on the breed of dog.

Only certain breeds are suitable for clipping, the most popular breeds are:

1. Yorkshire Terriers

2. West Highland Terriers

3. Spaniels

4. Lhasa Apso's / Shih Tzu's

5. Poodles

To be honest there are many more dogs that need clipping, there are far too many to list. All long coated dogs need clipping, generally speaking once every 12 weeks, depending on the breed.

Please feel free to Contact Us if you are unsure or need any information

Double Coated Dogs

Poochie Parlour services for double coated dogs

Double coated dogs need to have their undercoat removed, to help avoid matting/tangles it will make your dog more comfortable when it is removed.

Double coated dogs should not be clipped because when their coat grows back it will grow back thicker and more matting/tangles will occur and in the warmer weather it will be very hot and uncomfortable for your dog. Having said that, we have had some double coated dogs that have been clipped since they were a puppy and we will do this service, but it is against our recommendations to clip a double coated dog.

Grooming a double coated dog is done by, removing their dead undercoat and has many benefits

1. Helps promote a healthy and shinier top coat

2. Gives your dog a tidier appearance

3. Helps prevents tangles/mats

4. Makes your dog feel more comfortable
