Double coated dogs need to have their undercoat removed, to help avoid matting/tangles it will make your dog more comfortable when it is removed.
Double coated dogs should not be clipped because when their coat grows back it will grow back thicker and more matting/tangles will occur and in the warmer weather it will be very hot and uncomfortable for your dog.Having said that, we have had some double coated dogs that have been clipped since they were a puppy and we will do this service, but it is against our recommendations to clip a double coated dog.
Grooming a double coated dog is done by, removing their dead undercoat and has many benefits:
- Helps promote a healthy and shinier top coat
- Gives your dog a tidier appearance
- Helps prevents tangles/mats
- Makes your dog feel more comfortable
